Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways whereby bronchial hyperresponsiveness from exposure to a variety of stimuli results in an exaggerated bronchoconstrictor response, causing recurrent episodes of coughing, wheezing, breathlessness, or chest tightness.
