Therapeutic Use:

Indications for Choline magnesium trisalicylate:

Osteoarthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis. Painful shoulder. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, other conditions requiring antiinflammatory action in children.

Adult:

3g daily at bedtime or in 2 divided doses. Elderly:750mg three times daily.

Children:

<12kg: not recommended. 12–37kg: 50mg/kg/day. >37kg: 2.25g/day. Both in 2 divided doses.

Contraindications:

Varicella or influenza in children and teenagers. Pregnancy at term.

Warnings/Precautions:

Renal dysfunction: monitor salicylate levels. Chronic renal failure. Erosive gastritis. Peptic ulcer. Elderly. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Labor & delivery, nursing mothers: not recommended.

Pharmacological Class:

Salicylate (non-acetylated).

Interactions:

May potentiate anticoagulants, hypoglycemics, methotrexate. Urinary alkalinizers, antacids, corticosteroids may reduce plasma salicylate levels; urinary acidifiers may increase salicylate plasma levels. May antagonize uricosurics and spironolactone.

Adverse Reactions:

Salicylism, tinnitus, hearing impairment, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, lethargy.
