Anemias:
Indications for: ACCRUFER
Iron deficiency anemia.
Adult Dosage:
Swallow whole. Take 1hr before or 2hrs after a meal. 1 cap twice daily for ≥12 weeks.
Children Dosage:
Not established.
ACCRUFER Contraindications:
Hemochromatosis. Iron overload syndromes. Receiving repeated blood transfusions.
ACCRUFER Warnings/Precautions:
Avoid in active inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) flare. Assess iron parameters prior to initiation and monitor during therapy.
ACCRUFER Interactions:
Avoid concomitant dimercaprol. May affect or be affected by certain oral drugs (eg, mycophenolate, ethinyl estradiol, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline); separate dosing of Accrufer by ≥4hrs.
Adverse Reactions:
Flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, feces discolored, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort/distension.
