Exact Sciences Corp., maker of the noninvasive colon cancer at-home test Cologuard, has announced that several insurers are now covering the test, resulting in expanded patient access to Cologuard.
“As adoption of Cologuard grows rapidly among leading insurance providers, Exact Sciences is encouraged that the medical community continues to believe in the value of offering this additional noninvasive screening test to average risk patients,” said Kevin Conroy, Chairman and CEO of Exact Sciences.”
Insurance plans now covering the test include Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Tufts Health Plan, Care First BlueCross Blue Shield PPO (CareFirst), Excellus BCBS WNY, Dean Health Plan, and several smaller regional providers.

Cologuard was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to screen adults 50 years of age or older who are at average risk for colorectal cancer. The American Cancer Society now includes Cologuard in the colorectal screening guidelines.
