Description: For this randomized, interventional study (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02409485), researchers are evaluating the effectiveness and feasibility of a home-delivered couples skill-training (CST) psychosocial intervention for couples in which one partner has head and neck cancer.

There are 2 trial arms: in arm 1 (CST), patients and their partners are given a workbook and have 6, 1-hour sessions with a trained interventionist to educate each couple about side effect management, communication, and communal coping strategies. In arm 2, standard care is provided by the patient’s health care team.

The primary outcome is recruitment and retention; secondary outcomes include hospitalizations/unplanned clinic visits and patient/partner quality of life.
